Exclusive Photos: Madonna Live in Las Vegas!

There’s no better place to show off the toned bod and glittery stage show than Las Vegas. And Saturday night, when Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet world tour rolled into Sin City, the 50-year-old singer — who’s been on the road since late August — rocked through one of the best performances of the tour thus far.

Check out SPIN.com’s exclusive photos of the still-hot songstress below.

El Ten Eleven

What? Typically, instrumental rock has the tendency to be maudlin (Godspeed You!, Black Emperor), sprawling (Explosions in the Sky), or experimental (Tortoise). However, such is not the case with Los Angeles, CA, duo El Ten Eleven, who compose tightly wound tunes with plenty of punch. While bassist/composer Kristian Dunn and drummer Tim Fogarty displayed a knack for tedious nuance on 2004’s self-titled debut, their third record, These Promises Are Being Videotaped, is packed full of danceable melodies that put Ratatat to shame. Their sound is just as ideal for basement dance parties and Sega Genesis videogame soundtracks alike.

Who? Dunn and Fogarty met in 2003 while working together in an experimental project that was eventually disbanded. Prior to the group’s sophomore release, Every Direction Is North, Dunn wrote the soundtrack for the 2007 film Helvetica, with Fogarty assisting him in performing much of the music. In January 2008, El Ten Eleven released the single “Jumping Frenchmen of Maine” through their MySpace page, offering listeners the option of paying what they wanted for the song, a true sign o’ the times.

Fun Fact: Before forming El Ten Eleven, Tim Fogarty gigged at an illegal casino in L.A.’s Koreatown district.

Hunter S. Thompson would not have liked this album. Which isn’t saying much, considering he spent the majority of his time face-up spewing vitriolic rants about these shallow kids today and their endless entitlement. “A generation of dancers,” he once seethed. And yet, this quote has inspired a boastful band from Las Vegas to bow their heads and once again make a respectably vivacious dance-rock album.

MacBook Pro and 24/96 or 24/192

Desktop=Windows XP equipped with Lynx 22

Lynx 22 balanced analog and AES digital outs connected to Grace 902 which functions as DAC and pre connected to active Dynaudio monitors.

iTunes on Windows PC with Lynx card will send 24/96 digital signal to 902 with 24/96 wav files or 24/96 wav files converted to AIFF using Max to Grace 902.

iTunes on MacBook pro will only send 44/16 digital signal with same aforementioned files to Grace 902 toslink connection from mini digital connection on MacBook Pro. I have confirmed Grace 902 toslink input will receive and process 24/96 and 24/192 files.

Is this possibly a limitation of the digital out on the MacBook Pro?

Thanks,

John
